Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

The Double Play+HSD charge is an installation charge, for monkeying around with the box outside your place (or so we were told). In our case, it's the box that runs along the ditch behind our house that brings cable to our house proper. They probably had to either hook up the cable in a service closet in your building's basement or a nearby light pole or something, or install or remove a filter on the line so you got the right level of service, so RR worked properly, etc. Or they stared at the panel in the closet, walked away, and charged you for it anyway.

We called when we saw this on our bill. We explained that we were told by the rep that processed our transfer request a month or so earlier that there wouldn't be any install or other charges at all since we were only transferring service within the same TW-Milwaukee service area. The rep we talked to ended up giving us a credit for it. You might be so lucky, too. In fact, look at your bill and insist they explain and justify all the charges to you. If they can't, there's no reason why they shouldn't remove them for you, on the spot.

Thanks again for writing; good luck with Time-Warner and Roadrunner (as you clearly know, you'll need it more than not).

Hello there! I've had similar issues in downtown Milwaukee. I was renting a new unit at a condo and it took over a month and a half to finally get someone to (a) schedule a visit and (b) actually show up to that visit. After that, I was billed erroneously at least 3 times and not to mention their PayXpress website is a piece of crap. I had to report bugs to them as if they've never tested it before. Thankfully they gave me a decent(?) rate ($21.00/month) on internet for the entire year (which isn't up yet even though I've moved). I did transfer my service to the place I just moved into and, duh, the guy who shows up things its a new installation. Alright, so don't charge me for it -- i'll take that. But then I receive the bill today and I see a strange credit. Where did this $9.98 come from? I have no idea. Then there's the Basic Service and Standard Tier -- is there a difference or something? Why are there two charges for cable TV? Then finally the road runner price is $9.45 which is just dandy. But then there is a one-time charge of $19.95 for Double Play Video+HSD. What the hell is that? (a) I do not even have a cable box to play video (b) I certainly did not order any movies or anything. Am I going to bother calling tech support? Not after the previous fiasco I had with them last summer. I literally spent 6 or 7 hours on hold before ever getting an answer to my issues. I hate Time Warner.
